Cellar Door at Tilbrook Estate Wines, Adelaide Hills

Cellar Door at Tilbrook Estate Wines

The old Onkaparinga Woollen Mill, in the historic Lutheran town of Lobethal, in the heart of the Adelaide Hills, now provides a home for Tilbrook’s combined winery and cellar door. Built around 1900, our tall, rustic red brick building previously housed machinery for fluffing up blankets and was known as the “raising room”. It is now home to one of the smallest “grape to bottle” wineries in the Adelaide Hills.

When you visit us, you can see right into our working winery, talk with the winemaker, and taste award-winning wines that are served in some of the finest restaurants around Australia.

Every day during the Christmas break till January 8th and on weekends we do an Adelaide Hills gourmet platter with Harris smoked salmon, Skara Prosciuto and Chorizo, Udder Delights cheese (made right next door!),  Milano olives and EV olive oil, Adelaide Hills Dips’ Skordalia dip, Baylies lavash and Lobethal Bakery ciabatta. Plus a rocket salad. Fairtrade and Organic Rio espresso coffee is also available as well as all our wines by the glass or bottle. For something sweet we have a range of Emmeline’s cookies and cakes (Made next to Udder Delights!) Please book for lunch on 08 8389 5318.

For groups of ten or more Please look at the tab “Groups” which is under “Visit our Cellar Door” on the menu.

All the ingredients of our platter are available for purchase:  Adelaide Hills Milano Olives products including extra virgin olive oil and marinated olives. Milano Olives are grown between Birdwood and Gumeracha and their oils are made from the classic Italian olives, whilst their marinated olives are the best eating olives. 3 Udder Delights cheeses are available from the fridge: Chevre, Brie and Heysen Blue. Also available from the fridge are Harris smoked salmon and Skara Proscuitto and Chorizo. Harris are in Hahndorf and Skara are in Nairne, whilst Baylies are in Woodside. We stock a couple of the Baylies crackers: Plain Lavash and the Rosemary Lavash. We also have a range of Emmeline’s cookies: Melting Moments, Chocolate Fudge (my favourite), Honey Biscuits, and some cakes. For those who like the fantastic Adelaide Hills fruit we have a range of Jams from Mylor.

We also stock a selection of gourmet cookbooks and the ever popular “Wine Dogs” books.

In winter there are even more reasons to visit as we stoke up the wood stove and serve hot, spicy mulled wine! Available by the glass or take-away by the bottle.
