Cellar Door

We have finished building phase one of our environmentally / eco-friendly cellar door that is zero net carbon and powered by solar PV and thermal. Second to our passion for wine is our passion for sustainable building design and materials, as well as renewable energy and storage.

We have done thermal modelling on our cellar door, which is partially sunk into a hillside, and it averages a temperature year round of around 20℃. Part of our aim in building this cellar door is to show people a model of how to build sustainably and with no ongoing energy costs, at a price that most people can afford.

As we are passionate about sustainability we will be having a Tesla destination charger and another EV charge point. You will be able to bring your Electric Vehicle and recharge whilst having a tasting or at a function or event we are holding!

Tasting at Tilbrook Estate

Bookings are highly recommended, due to limited space. All tastings are now sit down hosted tastings. For the safety of our customers and staff we require you to be double vaccinated and may ask you to show your vaccination certificate on entry. We appreciate your understanding at this time.

Enjoy a tasting whilst you are seated at our beautiful custom made Kauri pine tables. Crafted by Roger Dyer, a Ballarat artisan and long time friend, these are made from recycled Kauri pine vats from an old Melbourne vinegar factory. You’ll also be treated to amazing views over the upper Onkaparinga Valley. Depending on the time of day and time of the year you’ll see orchards, vineyards, pastures, kangaroos, cattle, native birds plus be “up in the clouds” on a wet, wintry day, or in amongst it on a sunny day with nature all around!

We offer you the whole of our “hope!’ wine range to taste . After the bushfire these were all wines that had been given to us unlabeled or sold to us at cost, so we could get back on our feet and have our own label on them. Two thirds of the range is now wines which we have had some hand in the sourcing of the grapes and in the making. We had no grapes in Vintage 2020, less than a tonne in 2021 and a third of our usual production in 2022. We are on the path to recovery but it is taking time.

The name came from all the amazing acts of generosity from individuals and companies that gave us “hope!” that we would be able to carry on. Now visitors to our cellar door are doing the same by contributing to the rejuvenation and replanting of our vineyard and rebuilding of our winery.

Tastings are between 45 minutes long and an hour depending on the number in the group. Bookings are essential. Please book here for tastings for groups less than 9 people,  and for larger groups between 9 and 30 people. Lunch at Tilbrook Estate

Lunch bookings are essential. It would help us greatly if you could pre book using the Book Now button below. If you want to make a last minute booking on the day, after we open, you can ring us on 0459403746 and we will try to fit you in. However, if we are busy, this may not be possible. It is best to book with a couple of days notice so we can organise extra staff, and food. For the safety of our customers and staff we require you to be double vaccinated and may ask to see your vaccination certificate on entry. We appreciate your understanding at this time.

Enjoy lunch by the fire in our beautiful cellar door with amazing views or relax outside during the warmer months. On Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays, and during the week by appointment, we serve stone cooked pizzas, and platters, made from Adelaide Hills produce (wherever possible). Lunch is served between 12 and 3 on weekends.

Bookings are essential. Based on experience we have allowed up to 2 hours for a lunch booking.
